*long to read*
Andrea I think that actually ganesha range could be:
1 main rulebook for historical/fantasy era from ancient to napoleonic: one unique core system ... so general rules for activation, terrain, weather, movement, range and hth combat, morale AND some general special rules/army roster/weapons (one for every setting for example ONLY to give the new player some idea of the game and some example to play with).
the same 1 book for WWII/modern/sci-fi the same above.
SBH was the first, is a fact that the expansions and different settings systems made SBH core rules set little old and odd now so this one could be absolutly a fresh new approach...
Ok 1 book ... but also every core rulebook will have different expansion books (so 1 for fantasy, 1 for medieval (arthur?), 1 for napoelonic, 1 for ancient and more like now 1 for generic campaign, some books for specific miniatures range like now...etc etc)
Every expansion will have all the specific Special Rules, Army Rosters, Weapons and Scenarios of the era/settings...so no expansion no party !
Think about SDS: 1 core rule book and 1 book with inside the special rules, army list, weapons of the napoleonic era: 1 book instead SDS+MDS but with the core rules in mind=always 2 books on the market but better ... and more players that easly will buy all the expansion knowing that the core rules that they have is the same for all
Both core rules and expansion will be little bigger in size but no so much! I don't think that in this manner you will loose too many golds , sorry!!! euro ...I think exactly the opposite...
Yes! we buy easier a book for 8 dollars than 15 but take in care that we are also mature, clever, gourmet (is possible in english?) players...not badly devil addicted (like GW one ) and we all will enjoy a better reorganize work, also if little more expansive.
Finally, I think that if you want to close (you and your friends designers) all the new projects in mind (RPG, Fantasy mass combat, napoleonic and ACW gran tactical) you have to "close" one day the "SBH & son" Skirmish Project ... ;D ;D ;D
