The Honored of Sobek
Chosen [x1]: Q3 C3, Big, Leader, Tough
Hammergators [x3]: Q3 C4, Fearless
Spearlizards [x2]: Q3 C2, Shooter (short), Fearless
The Orc Marauders
Warchief [x1]: Q3 C4, Leader, Tough
Savage Orks [x5]: Q4 C3, Savage
Ork Archers [x2]: Q4 C3, Shooter (medium)
The Battlefield
a) Two old ruined buildings (small, 2 story)
b) Farmer Bill's House (small)
c) A corn field (rough ground, gives cover, does not block LOS)
d) A small woods (normal woods rules)
e) The Lye Pit (fall in, instant death)
The Action
The Honored of Sobek made their initial move, the Hammergators and the Chosen moving in from behind the woods, while the Spearlizards moved into the woods. The Orks gathered their forces and moved forward, but their lack of discipline broken their formation.
The next few turns the Honored of Sobek stood around contemplating the attack (two faiulres on first activations several tuens in a row ... uhg) while the Orks moved into the cornfield and into position.
The first blood was drawn by the orks. A hammergator charged in and was anihilated. However, due to some bad dice ... err ... I mean poor tactical planning the orks found themselves without enough actions to respond to the sudden swarm of Sobek warriors on their Ork Warchief. After some beating a gruesome kill removed him from play and the Orks scattered.
The Orks rallied and attempted to enact some revenge, but the dice were again not with them and the Honored of Sobek swarmed another lonely Ork, causing a catastrophic morale failure.
With only a single Ork archer still on the battlefield, the Honored of Sobek did their strange river dance and feated on the corpses of their fallen enemies.
The end.
Analysis and Notes
I played the HoS while J played the orks. It was his first game, but even with a no-contest defeat he said it was pretty awesome. If the Orks would have more effectively set up and used their group activation and not had their leader on point, things might have gone very differently.
The HoS were customer made with the builder, the orks from the rosters. I probably should have just built a 300pt band from the rosters too. I put too much emphasis on having the leader go first to give group commands without actually having things set up for it.
I won in the end because of J's rookie mistake, but it was still awesome to drive my foes before me and hear the lamentations of their women. ;D
