Is anyone getting an Ipad, and if you already did, how do the Ganesha PDFs look like on it? Do you think I should work on a text only epub version to be included with the download for better reading on it? I was going to do it for the Kindle but it was not needed as the newer model just reads PDF and the screen is large enough to use it on the gaming table. Still, pure ereaders are a bit slow (which is just right when reading a novel or an essay but less than perfect when you're flipping pages to find arule). Personally, I am not really convinced about the ipad hardware (I'm waiting for the release of the Notion Ink Adam.. www.notionink.in/adamfeature.php -- when they finally make it available, it looks like it will become my ereader and tablet of choice), but Apple has a strong media pull so it might open up a new market niche. Looking forward to hearing your opinion. A.

The iPad is the best gadget purchase I have ever made. Blows my Kindle out of the water. Reading Comics on it is a joy. Using the Goodreader app, the SBH PDFs look fantastic. There is no need to repackage them as ePubs. However, building am app for Unit and Force Building would be spectatcular

Silverspider I'll look into this as soon as I receive mine, probably on the first week of May. Yes we have ideas for the ipad here at ganesha. I thaink that in a few years, most wargamers will be carrying around one or a similar device.

I am getting an ipad - just don't know if it will be this version or the next. Tad fence sitting at the moment but it's not a choice of to get or not to get just a choice of when. The other reason is that I want more memory - I feel that parting $500US for 16gb is a little too rich (and my Gaming ebook collection is huge, I wouldn't have room for anything else.) - hence the quandary of waiting. I have been reading books on my iphone of late - it is too small but I am annoyed at the price of books and the fact that most I only read once and then shelve. Yes I know I can take them to a second hand dealer..... but I'm lazy. Plus I do like having the books as reference.
Would I like to see an Song of Blades & Heroes App - Hell yes. The rules with graphic instructions with built in dice rollers and warband builders..... ah the Dream.

We are working with Bitmetrics to bring our games on the iPad. You will have a free app with an inbuilt PDF reader (to import the pdfs you already have), the warband builders, hopefully a ganesha dice roller, and a store to purchase the PDFs.
Slowly but steadily all our books will be reformatted for the ipad. This will be a new version and will be for sale only on the ipad store (no, we can't give those away for free because we have to recoup development costs and Apple eats up 30% of the pdf price). The new books will all be in color with added diagrams, photos etc. There should also be an option where the PDFs update themselves automatically if there is a new version on the Ganesha App store.
Look for the Elephant-headed God logo in the App store around November!

This is very cool news indeed. I really am looking forward to getting this app. I must say I have been buying ipad apps here and there when they are on sale - even though I don't have one yet. I did this with the iphone a year before I got it. Takes the pain/sting out the the buying after you layout the cash for the hardware.

I have a beta version running on my ipad but unfortunately cannot share it until it is made public on the apple app store. So far we have a nice pdf reader with integrated dice roller. We still have to work on the store.

Got me an iPad, want the apps for SDS and FL (61-65 when it's out … god speed).
Note: I have had issues with other game company PDFs via the free PDF readers. They say it's the way they were saved. Don't know about G games PDFs.

wow, that's really great news! at the moment I own an iPhone4, but I totally plan on buying a second generation iPad as soon as it hits the shelves, so I'm eagerly waiting for this release..! if I may give you some tips, here they are: 1) try to make your application universal, for both iPads and iPhones/iPod Touches: I put my MDRG pdf on Goodreader for my iPhone and it look gorgeous on its retina display, even at 3,5" size! 2) have the in-built character/vehicle/weapon builder have a "save as file" option with which you can choose a selection of stuff created so that it gets saved in a .txt or .rtf format; 3) have your app support both iTunes share (that's the option with which you add files on the app while your device is docked on your computer), "Open in..." (to swap files from app to app) and maybe the wifi connection option too (to transfer files from a computer without docking the device); adjust permissions as needed to protect your IPs, obviously... 4) support the in-app buy for getting new manuals and such; keep up the good work, and let us know when things are going to get rolling..!

Catterrain, GG pdfs display correctly on the ipad, that's the way I play :-) Ciabs, thanks for the tips, I do not think we will implement "Open in" as it leads to abuse, but everything else will be in (I hope!)

RE: Flying Lead/H&M, 6165/SDS, and the iPad app.
Okay, got me some modern figs and some ACW figs (looking for FIW figs too) and an iPad ... now what do I do. Should I get the PDFs from within the iPad app? Or buy the PDFs I want and then import them to the iPad? Ideas & suggestions for a newbie to Ganesha ready to pull the trigger now.

The books you can purchase through the app are in full color and are formatted so they are more readable on the ipad. The standard PDF versions are more for people who will print them at home. Both have their advantages IMHO.
We cannot offer free ipad versions with the standard purchase because we have to pay a 30% fee to Apple and a 50% fee to the app developers who asked us no upfront money.
