Five of us played the game, three of us enjoyed in immensely. Angus is not a big fan of skirmish games.

Hee hee probably not the best idea for him to write the BRep up then Does sound like a good setup and game mate ... just don't like his attitude ... typical up his own backside wargamer by the sounds.

The game itself sounded fun to me. It was nice to see a back-story created for it.
Even if the writer doesn't like skirmish gaming, at least he tried it and didn't really care for it as opposed to the many who don't like it and have never tried it. Those are the people who get under my skin.

oook, took it! i'm printing it right now... it seems funny: my only comments: - Too much magic for my taste, but this is easily adaptable - What Kind of Martial art do you practice? I have read some MA terms (Aikido i will swear) - I will give it a try ASAP...
:-) thank you!

The magic is in there because it was basically to do a fantasy campaign set in Japan I have studied various forms of MA over the years but I have taught/studied the Bujinkan Ryuha for the past 25 years in England, Japan and Australia . Before that I studied Judo, Aikido, Kung Fu, Escrima and a few others Rich

Yeah... by now i have read the premises on SON&K... i would have known it nontheless by reading carefully... you have put a great deal of efforts to insert every aspect of Ninja Lore inside of son&K.. :-) I'm a practioner and teacher of Moto Ha Yoshin ryu Jujutsu... a relative (HA in fact) of Hontai Yoshin Ryu, itself a relative of Takagi Yoshin Ryu that you learn in Bujinkan... :-)
ok.. will try the rules and change it to suit my Paradigm :-)

I had to take a lot of MA terms out of them to be honest. Drop the mythical creatures and the ninja crap and it will give a fairly solid set of feudal + Japan rules - I also did a campaign system for it which I keep meaning to finish off and post at some point. I did them a fair while back now ... I mean to change them at some point to reflect the way we now play. We now base our samurai stuff on Flying Lead and make more use of the 'better weapon' factors ... also gives the bow a more accurate effect I think. BUT the major thing would be to change armour into how it works for 'body armour' in Flying Lead - gives a + 1 or 2 to ANY LOSING combat roll - so the armour can't help you 'win' a combat but it lessens the potential damage. We do chain and ashigaru armour as 'body armour' and full samurai as 'enhanced body armour'. The way it works then means it is harder to double or triple which often just saves the wearer - the way it is in SOBH is that armour will only help if you fail by one. However the points cost needs to be tweaked accordingly.
