Hello all, I have been using SDS to play French and Indian wargames and I must say that they are the best set I have tried for this war. The scale is such that playing the small frontier raids out as battles is fantastic fun. My wife plays as well and she is always the British. We have a group of 6 of us that play on alternate weekends. We usually play 4-5 scenarios per night with each taking about 45 minutes.
The beauty of this is that we can play on a beautiful table and it doesn't take hours to set up. We use a 3 foot by 3 foot table that we made just for this. We have several buildings that we can move as well as fields, fences walls and roads. We are working on a modular stream. SDS is by far my favorite miniatures game. I just wonder if anyone else has tried to use this for the French and Indian War. (we did make some house rules for our Indians that are fun to play as well)
Cheers. Andrew Franke

Andrew, we did not play FIW yet, but it was one of the first supplement that the community requested. I included the profiles of Native Americans in "More Drums and Shakos" the SDS supplement with many Nation's Army lists, under the War of 1812. Did you check that? Anyway, I think that the rules can be played as they are, maybe just triming a bit on the reload of the muskets. It would be nice to have some pics of your table Sergio Laliscia

Hi,
I haven't, but plan to. It's actually the reason I bought SDS and the supplement ;D
Cheers,

I also plan on doing some American colonies action with Song of Drums & Shakos. I'm thinking of mostly clashes between native Americans, with occasional French or British soldiers, trappers or frontiersmen involved.
I was thinking the "Light" special ability will work great for hunter-type Indians. They should be able to move through terrain with no penalty. In general, the only change I was thinking of making would be to allow a "group" to be within one short move of each other. Base to base contact works great for Napoleonics, but the woodland warfare would require troops to be more spread out.

I've been playing around with making up a few squads and stuck essentially with the list in MDS but have given light special ability as well.
