Finished lots of playtest games yesterday.... main issue that cropped up was that players were unsure about KO being so final. We've played a lot of bloodbowl, Mordheim etc... and KO is usualy something you can come back from. KO worked great once we had accepted its finality and will work great when using pre-gen monsters. Our concern is that in a 'built' force, regeneration is going to be far too common, my group are all relaxed, 'for fun' gamers and even we felt we'd end up with too many regenerators. Is there any way of having a KO recovery roll? Maybe a 'recover' action requiring two successes? Obviously any failure is going to cause another wound as you'll only have reds. Then unlike regeneration you regain consciousness but no wounds. May just be the fallout of too many GW games talking though

If you recover consciousness but no wounds it's pretty useless ,as you'll soon be KO again (remember all staggering models make one test on the staggering table every time they are hit).
Did you use the Go Berserk rule? It lets you heal one wound.
Probably Regeneration should just cost a bit more, but the heavyweights in the movies have it (Godzilla and Gamera to a lesser extent-- of course it depends on the movie)

The idea here is to keep a 3 monster per player game around 1 hour or less. if you allow for many re-breathers some games will never end.

I think it's the wording that bothered my group the most..... could KO be replaced by Out of action? Knocked out implies that you'll be getting up sometime. I definately think Regeneration should be more expensive

I agree that Regeneration should be more expensive. Monsters that have it, have a big advantage over those that don't.
As far as being KO-ed, we are ok with that as the monsters will get back up - after the match. They don't die like in SBH, but just like in the movies, they will always be back for the next match.
Out of Action is fine too, but we are ok with KO as well.

I think either one is fine, now that it is understood how Regeneration affects it. It should cost more.
I think the note about how successful regeneration changes the status from Knockout to Knocked Down should be stated in the Knock Out section of the manual as well, so it is clear.

I have brought up Regeneration to 45 points. Also added comments about it in the KO rules.
