hi
last game:
hhhhhhhhh 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 3
where h is a hedge so a std linear piece of terrain 1-2 are men in contact base to base so a group and 3 is a leader
my leader take a quality test on 2 dices and with 2 successes use the first to activate the whole group 1-2 and the second to move to the hedge
the group use 2 dices for his group actions. only one success and so the group move trying to cross the hedge...
the question is:
a) all the group 1-2 cross the hedge using the standard small movement and the leader move to the hedge. this one because the men are moving in group and we can assume that the first rank see outside the hedge but after taht (the men can speak togheter in a 2 ranks formation ;D) all the group move with a cautious approach over the hedge
1111 2222 hhhhhhh 3
b) we have to use litterally the rules considering the second rank like men that have to reach the hedge and stop one turn before try to cross.
1111 hhhhhh 2222 3
best Paolo

Crossing a linear obstacle requires a soldier (or group) to scale down 1 level of movement (long becomes medium, medium becomes short and short requires 2 action to move). In the case you mentioned, if 1111 and 2222 can jump the fence moving 1 short they may do so. The same applies to the Leader. In the Rulebook, on page 9 of the italian version, there is a phrase that is confusing and should be deleted under the "Porte, aperture ed ostacoli": stopping before an obstacle is only required when entering a door or a ruined building. The elglish version should be OK. Sorry for that

Correct. You put the (Short) measuring stick in front of the miniature, in contact with the base, and move it past the stick (the depth of the base is part of the movement in SDS) over the obstacle... Cheers sergio

Sorry for digging out this old threat, but I thought that a group activation is only allowed for 2-6 Miniatures?
