Played a game of FL recently (BatRep w/Pics soon to follow) and we had two questions come up that we couldn't find answers to in the book (we probably did not know where to look):
1. What are the possible outcomes for a Fallen figure if it needs to test Morale (warband below half, etc.)?
2. If a figure engages an enemy figure in base-to-base (b2b) contact but doesn't have any actions left to attack does the enemy figure (assuming it has a ranged weapon) still make the quality check for being engaged? Do the two engaged figures roll a round of close combat using the modifiers from the outcome of the quality check and other close combat modifiers?
Thanks!

Hi Looking forward to the report: 1/ Fallen/Shaken figures are treated the same but it takes them one or two actions to get up etc. Then they take the run ... this sometimes seems they are 'better' off as they don't run off BUT this is countered by the fact that figures that can't get away from the enemy are removed anyway. 2/ They are engaged as such but no attack happened ... basically in 'reality' they are grabbing/holding or readying for a hit etc. Usually used to get extras in for another character to steam in and hit with the target getting a negative for each 'extra'. Remember it is not compulsory for the figure to test to see if they can shoot, a lower quality character without a short band weapon is often better off 'getting ready' for combat etc. They can try and shoot if they wish, in this particular case there would be no real reason not to if other enemy characters are not going to enter combat as well as the fazed will only last that round.
If a character already engaged has another enemy coming in they can test to shoot but at a negative to their Quality for each enemy already in - this models the old pulp style holding one enemy off while aiming at someone else coming in - they need to be a good quality to get away with it as the risk of getting fazed is greater of course.

1. That was our concern because the figure in question was not in b2b with an enemy and far enough away from other enemy figures that when he rolled 2 failures, he was better off than before. Having the same outcome is fine with me and I can see where the situation above is an exception rather than the rule.
2. Ah, so the test to shoot is by choice. The way it is written in the rulebook makes it seem like a mandatory roll. The non-compulsory works a lot better and makes more sense.
Thanks for the replies.

Hi 1/ Think of it as being in two minds what to do ... often if you are fallen and not near to others it is bad news to stand up and be there when more shooting comes your way We have had moral checks force shaken characters in cover to get up and break cover only to be mowed down by op fire. 2/ See what you mean, that was a subtle edit I think as my original had the 'may' bit of it more obvious as being a choice not a may if they are lucky as it reads now. One for a FAQ I think.
