Last nights game pitted the North London BUF trying to 'reallocate' a WWI plane to become their recon plane. Lord Forty had been using the Hainault airfield to fly his collection of two WWI planes from. His Local Defence Force were happily using the flights to recon the BUF and 'Commie' movements within their territory which meant they could thwart (read ambush) their movements easily.
Now Dick Griffin (Leader of the NLBUF) could see the value in this, but lacked the funds necessary to purchase one ... so in true Fascist fashion one hazy dawn morning they set off to Hainault to liberate one from Lord Forty!
The game was played on a 3x3 table using Flying Lead and was part of our ongoing campaign. Not many photos this time as basically I forgot!
The BUF advance in the dawn light:
The BUF started the game sneaking up to the barbed wire in the weak morning light ... we restricted the LOS and tested each move to see if the visibility had increased. Their Vickers HMG set up on the outcrop next to the road to provide covering fire when needed.
A BUF member failed their 'task' roll (sneaking wasn't in the basic training he got at Griffins house) and was spotted by one of the guards who challenged him. The BUF spent little time agonising over the next course of events and opening up the guard was quickly put out of action. The rest of the LDF who were present joined in the fight and it became a tight firefight ... however the BUF had terrible rolls and quickly found themselves at half strength but survived the morale check.
However from then on it was all bad for the BUF ... they either failed to activate to do anything useful or else rolled very badly. It wasn't long until their flag bearer went down and caused another morale check ... this time they went packing!
Another quick and entertaining game ... the BUF pledge to be back!
