I have been meaning to take the plunge and do some Naps gaming for years. I am getting older and i think it is high time that i have a go at some gentleman's war gaming. I have always like the idea of Naps games but don't have the time or the space for large battles. This is were SDS fits in nicely, it will allow me to recreate my favorite bits from the Sharpe's TV dramas and books. May main questions are figure and scale suggestions. I have a lot of 10-15mm Fantasy, Sci-Fi and a smattering of WWII figures and terrain. However i have a lot of 25-28mm fantasy and sci-Fi figures and terrain.
I like the look of AB Figures 18mm stuff, but i also think that the new multi pose 28mm stuff will allow for greater creation of figure poses.
Any suggestions on the pro's and con's of scale and manufacturers would greatly be appreciated.
(Sorry for the long post)

Ian, even if we played a lot with 15mm I'd say 28mm is the way to go. Manufacturers: my personal opinion is: Front Rank or Eureka, but also the new plastic from Perry or Victrix are very good, and with 1 box you get enough pieces for 2-3 squads. Hope this helps.. Sergio

i think 28mm is the best scale for skirmish, and with all the new plastic kits you can't go wrong. I 've Victrix and Perry, they mix well and are both very good, with Victrix newer box (like French Old Guard) getting better. every Victrix Box gives you about sixty figures with four complete command group, so you can share with some friend and have plenty of figure for SDS. The Perry kit has only one Command group for Kit, but need less building skill and the figures have very natural poses and beatiful faces. There are a lot of other metal producer, but i prefear plastic for the variety and durability (the paint never clips).

Guys,
Thank you for the advice, i will have a look at the 28mm plastics, i think even HaTT do them, but i don't think they are multipose.

Hi there,
For this size of game i'd always go for 28mm and i'd check out Front rank miniatures
Thanks Jeff
