...that you can pull together a bunch of different miniatures from your collection, throw them together in a team, and have a fun night of games.
Last night my friend and I grabbed a bunch of figures — Games Workshop, Grenadier, Reaper, plastic D&D minis, old MageKnight pieces that I rebased and repainted — and had a terrific time with SBH. Some of the miniatures we used had literally not been played in years. We didn't try to make uber warbands full of killer combos...we just put out a motley group of figures, came up with some basic justification for the pairings ("See, the orcs are bribing the gryphon warrior to fight with them, right? Same with the minotaur.") and went at it. It was awesome.

I'm in full agreement, that's the exact reason we started to play SBH

Totally agree, it is the simply elegance of the system that allows all manner of mins to be used.

Hee hee , the downside is that when you see a new range of figures it is easy to think ... gee I only need a few of those for SOBH/FL etc ... I now have LOADS of figures I only bought because 'I only need a few'.

Hehe the story of our lives.... And do remember that you need to keep some stuff unpainted... running out of unpainted lead kills you That said... I just bought "a few" minis the other day - staffing up for a game with my son, he needed a leader for his orcs.. and I accidentially got hold of some vampire spawns that will appear when my roman legionaires go to romania.... only lack of more cash prevented me from buying lots of ofther minis I would just need a few of lol... Damn Reaper Miniatures - they make too many cool figures for SBH!! OK - morning chatter mode off....

I went to a show to demo the rules not buy figures and came away with 30 moderns, a 1/48 PLANE, a set of Victorian Sherlock Holmes characters and a set of figures for 'Firefly' ... most of them still sitting there!
I am a LEAD ADDICT and admit it!

I haven't painted minis in years due to other obligations (children) but have started again. I also have never played a minis game before SBH. I have a couple hundred D&D minis for RPGing and now have a great game to use them with. I hear there is a game that goes with the D&D minis but have never bothered.... I am pretty jazzed about a game I can play with my 10 year old that is fun for both of us and that she has a good chance of beating me. I have begun to eye the lead as well. Morgan

This game system has encouraged my sons into gaming, rather than just painting miniatures, with its simple but elegant system. We've played Flying Lead using W40K imperial guard, LOTR rings using Sabertooth pre-painted miniatures and Fantasy using Citadel figures that I painted over 20 years ago! We're now producing terrain and looking forward to the rpg system being released. I can't recommend this game system enough...!
