Hi folks, Finished off my first batch of 28mm Conquest Miniatures Native Americans for a 17th-18th century "Song of Drums & Shakos" project. It'll be mainly Indians fighting other tribes, though frontiersmen and soldiers may make an appearance. Great figs! I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. I'm doing the tattooing in a more subdued "Last of the Mohicans" style, rather than the garish, full face and body paint that some tribes historically practiced.

Thanks for the kind words, folks!
As I do more, I'll be posting more. I have started writing a set of campaign rules set in the "Beaver Wars" -- a 17th-18th century conflict that took place between tribes for control of my own native Ohio. The Iroquois had pretty much cleaned out their own lands of fur animals, especially beaver, so were looking to expand into a new area they could exploit economically. In the campaign, each player will control a tribe, so it won't be so much Iroquois vs. others as much as a free-for-all.

Nice work Mike. Look forward to reading more regarding your campaign. I'm not sure if you're interested but there is a battle report over on the Lead Adventure Forum which is set during the Beaver War using Song of Drums and Shako. www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=19576.0(My apologies if posting the link breaches forum protocol) Kind Regards, Barry

Thanks, Barry. I'll have to get around to eventually registering for that cool forum to post my reply! I like the scenario idea. That's really what I need to do, is to start stockpiling scenario ideas before I start a campaign. I think I'll swipe that one! Anyway, batch #2 was completed the other day. Here are pics of my 6 Iroquois warriors I painted up (once again, Conquest Miniatures). Still loving the figures, but boy do they take a while to paint up! Oh well, no real hurry to get this project onto the tabletop. Like I said, I still have lots of scenarios to collect, a modern Africa campaign to finish, and schoolwork that is probably going to keep me super busy. If you want to read more about painting these, check out my website (link should be below my signature)... Thanks for the kind words and inspiration, folks! Mike Demana

Sorry, school's kept me too busy to follow the boards and keep folks updated. I have a third batch finished, and fourth batch of 6 about 1/3 complete. Here are the "generic" Eastern Woodland Indians from Conquest Minis... Actual games are probably at least a couple weeks away, at this point. I figure the next time our Sunday night group has an evening where we have low turnout and nothing scheduled, I'll pull them out and have a one-one-one (or at most two-on-two) game...
