Hi
Thought I'd share a scenario we played this morning with FL ... one could alter it for any genre really.
A Trip to the Bookstore
A scenario and battle rep for FLYING LEAD
by Rich Jones
It’s always fun, heading to the book store and the large one near the park in town is no exception. However this shop contains more than one had bargained on. The truth was that the notorious all girl (apart from one of the member’s ‘big brother’ who had always tagged along; due in no small part to delusions of being the ‘protector’ after watching far too many Hong Kong movies) gang the ‘Spicy Ones’ used it as a store for all their, shall we say, slightly illegally obtained goodies. Now this had been a good arrangement for the last couple of years but over the course of one week this had changed. Firstly there was the tax audit due, the old Head of Department had been firmly in Daddy’s pocket courtesy of a quite revealing ‘home’ made video! But the new guy had bought a new zeal to the Department and the book store who had somehow escaped an audit for 12 years was first on the list. Secondly there were rumours that the ‘Spicy Girls’ main rivals the ‘Z-Boyz’ had got wind of their stashing place and were planning an out of hours raid to ‘liberate’ the goods.
SO that’s how it has arrived this early, lazy Sunday morning an artic lorry was parked outside the bookstore and the ‘gals’ were busy shifting boxes into the back …
Apparently it was sheer coincidence that the Z-Boyz had chosen that very morning to pay the store a visit before opening time …
The game was played on a 3’ square table adorned with paper buildings from RPG.net and vehicles found at the local ‘Pound Store’. The gangs were built using Ray’s ‘squad builder’. We had a third person watching the game to learn the rules and decided to write in the possibility that the ‘cops’ would get wind of all this early morning activity and decide to drop in via helicopter at some point in the proceedings.
Special Scenario rules :
Instead of having detailed rules for loading the truck and having to have either a few ‘mooks’ doing it or keeping track of what had been loaded we used a ‘task roll’ each turn on a Quality of 4 until the firing started and then on a 5 – the truck was fully loaded and ready to roll when 3 task rolls had been passed.
The gangs were standard 600 points but with the addition of a car for the Spicy Ones and a beach buggy for the Z-boys (3 of whom were also on skateboards which gave them a long move). The police would arrive at any point after ‘turn 3’ two dice being rolled at the start of each ‘turn’ and if the total was LESS than the game turn number they would arrive on the top of the largest building … activating last in order.
Objectives
The Spicy Ones had to load the truck up and ship out … pure and simple, this would give them an extra 5 victory points.
The Z-Boyz had to stop them and if possible liberate the ‘goods’. They would receive 2 victory points if the Spicy Ones failed and 5 if they ran off with the goods.
Meanwhile the Police if they arrived just had to arrest the perps and uphold justice!
The table:
The Z-Boyz
Overwatch marker placed (red marker in distance)
Buggy ad hanging on skaters trigger the overwatch
The first out of action happens from 'Surfer Dude' and his drum fed LMG
But revenge is sweet as Kayli guns down 'Jay Boy'
The game swung from side to side, the cops arrived ... but you'll have to wait to find out what happens!
