When the game is ready, I will post a free PDF with table of contents and a basic walkthrough, and a batrep. I'll work with miniature manufacturers to do army packs in a variety of scales, and they will have the SAH logo on boxes and blisters. I already have a deal with www.microworldgames.com/ which does 6mm armies. I'll eventually do free PDF counters for those who want to try the game with proxies before basing or buying miniatures.

Wow, 6mm would be quite small. What scale do you mostly play with?
I was thinking 15 mm would be good, as Splintered Light carries a good variety of units there for cheap. But anything that you can get to promote with your own SAH logo would be good.
And sorry, I thought I had seen it mentioned somewhere that you weren't familiar with Warhammer rules. My mistake.

Do you think Irregular might be interested? Their 6mm fantasy rage is quite extensive.

I'll try to contact them when I am nearer to a release date. Basically, any manufacturer could be potentially interested in my opinion-- they already have the figures, they just need to do army packs...

A-train, I play in 15mm using mostly Demonworld and Splintered Light Miniatures figures. I have figures from nearly any manufacturer in 15/18mm... I'll try to have several units in different scales in the book to show that the rules can be played at any scale.

Just a quick question: why SAH will use square bases? Most of wargame have rectangular ones

I also played warhammer a lot, now is interesting for me and my group a good fast but tactical game
from your photo:
Is interesting that there isn't any rank in your unit
I'm doubtful about units so long in their front rank, (a 5 stand front rank became 40cm long for 28mm! In a 120cm x 180 cm table is a lot of space! Do you have enough space to manoeuvre your units? I will not like a game too restrict in the unit movement (crossing, change position during the game and so on), where a unit hardly can change his position on the table once place there.
thanks

Yes there are ranks, half of a second rank fights, or the whole second rank if it is spears or pikes.
The game is pretty maneuverable but hopefully not to the point that some troops dance around their opponents.
Generally spending one action you can move up to 2 stands to the front or the rear of the unit, so even a large unit (7 stands) can pretty much rearrange itself in any shape with two or three actions.

Robur, we are playtesting with rectangles too, so far it works just the same. Squares are nicer because a square is a square in any scale. Note that the STANDS are squares, the units (being formed by multiple stands) generally are rectangular (line, column, supported line, etc) Andrea

oh very nice, sorry but from your photos I saw only linear units so though that tere isn't any different kind of formations ... nice to know that there will be both manouvre and different formations and different rearranges (I don't like some rules in warhammer but the formations movement that I find very good)
thanks

Square bases are also much easier for players to make or purchase.

"Square bases are also much easier for players to make or purchase. "
Except of course the nice War of the Ring 8 (4x2) figure bases produced by GW.. Of course, with dexterous use of a razor saw, it suddenly becomes two sqaure bases!

Right now my large scale wargame is Fields of Glory ... I'm hoping that the figures i've already got based will be compatible with SAH ... 40mm x 15mm, 20mm, 30mm, or 40mm depending on unit.

Popedale, i think they will work. But don't expect the same complexity or the same results. The relative immobility of FOG, realistic as it may be, is as distanta as it can be from SAH where something happens every turn and stands are killed like flies. I do not recommend SAH for historical simulationistic games.

Oh - I sure hope they aren't the same game I love FOG, but it is a beautiful nightmare of complexity sometimes. Something faster-paced with more 'action' is a nice counterpoint and helps get more people interested in minis gaming. I was just curious since their basing is significantly different that the square basing for SAH if it would have a dramatic impact on the game play. Once the rules are released giving them a read should make it pretty obvious pretty quickly.
